About us

This tour takes you to another side of Menez-Hom Atlantique! We invite you to "climb" the Roche du Feu! Looking for a change of scenery, a challenge and a feast for the eyes? Click here!
A little history ...
Formerly known as Menez Gu, the Roche du Feu is a mountain peaking at 281 metres. Located in the heart of the Black Mountains, it has long served as a strategic point, particularly during Viking invasions. Fires were lit to prevent these attacks. La Roche du Feu takes its name from this.
At the summit, an exceptional panorama
Once at the summit, you'll be able to see not only the Montagnes Noires, but also the Monts d'Arrée, the Aulne valley and the Bay of Douarnenez. If the weather's clear, you may even catch a glimpse of the Cap-Sizun coastline! Bring your binoculars so you don't miss a thing... The colors change with the seasons: from blue, green and yellow in summer to golden hues in winter. Vegetation changes from lush green to bare hillsides... We love the different moods!

Itinerary
Step 1/5:

This hike starts near the town hall. Follow the lane in the direction of the water tower.

At the signpost, turn right onto a path leading into the moor: a succession of rocks and viewpoints.

You're at the foot of the "Roche du Feu"! The path leads around it, but you can now begin your ascent... At the top, at an altitude of 281 metres, you'll enjoy an exceptional panorama: views over the Aulne valley, the Monts d'Arrée to the north, the Bay of Douarnenez... and 33 church towers within a 40 km radius on a clear day!

Gouézec
La Roche du Feu

Go down to the parking lot, cross the road carefully, then follow a small path winding through the Gouézécois countryside.

At Croaz Toull, return to the village of Gouézec by turning left onto the RD 41. Please take great care when crossing this road, and use the gap on the right. Welcome back!
