Practical information

Click on our online diary and select the dates of your stay. All the events, local festivals, guided tours, concerts, guided walks, shows... offered during your stay in Menez-Hom Atlantique will be displayed! In July and August (and during off-season school vacations), the tourist office also offers a weekly calendar of events. It is distributed by newsletter and available at our 5 tourist information offices.

Lost and found should be returned to the Mairie or the gendarmerie (rue de Coatigrac'h in Châteaulin, rue Laennec in Pleyben).

Town halls offer a fee-based service for printing and photocopying documents (black & white or color).

Polysonnance in Châteaulin (5 Quai Robert Alba) provides computers and a printer, as well as wifi access.
Opening hours

> school holidays:
Tuesdays: 1:30pm - 5:30pm
Wednesdays to Fridays: 9am - 12pm and 1:30pm - 5:30pm
> school vacations:
Mondays to Fridays: 9am - 12pm and 1:30pm - 5pm.

The chapel is open to the public from April 1 to October 31. Daily from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

In July and August, tours are offered by SPREV guides Monday to Friday, 10:30 am to 12:30 pm / 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm and Sundays, 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

Visits are free and open to all.

Out of season, guided tours are available on request by contacting the tourist office on 02 98 81 27 37.

Easy access by car via the Châteaulin - Crozon axis on the D887 and then the D83. Free parking is available a few steps from the summit, which rises to 330m.

The tourist office

One of our tourist offices is open all year round. In 2023, this will be the Plonévez-Porzay office. Here are the opening hours.

Off-season: Monday to Friday: 9:30am - 12:30pm / 2:00pm - 5:30pm
Season (April to September): Monday to Saturday: 9:30am - 12:30pm / 2:00pm - 5:30pm

Sundays: 9:30am-12:30pm (mid-July to mid-August)

Fishing

To fish in freshwater, you must have a fishing licence valid for the area where you are fishing.

This card proves that you meet the 3 conditions required for fishing:

  • Be a member of an approved fishing association
  • Have paid the fee for the protection of aquatic environments
  • Have the authorization of the fishing right holder

Please note: fishing cards are not required for the annual fishing promotion day, which takes place on the1st Sunday in June.

The beaches

Our friends the dogs are banned from our beaches from June 1 to September 30 (prefectural decree dated January 19, 2018).

Four of our beaches are supervised from early July to late August (afternoons):
Plonévez-Porzay: Sainte-Anne-La Palud and Kervel beaches
Plomodiern: Pors-ar-Vag beach
Saint-Nic: Pentrez beach

Surfing, sand yachting, kite-surfing, paddling, kayaking... the Menez-Hom Atlantique offers a wide choice of water sports.

Mobility

Find all the Tourist Office's partner bike rental companies.

Parking is free in all communes! In Châteaulin town center, blue zone parking is regulated. Failure to present a parking disc will result in a fine.

Saint-Nic: 2 route de Pentrez, in the parking lot.

In July and August, three lines serve the villages on the way to the beaches of Pentrez (Saint-Nic) and Lestrevet (Plomodiern). Each route includes an early afternoon outward journey (departing at 1 or 1:15 p.m.) and a late afternoon return journey (departing at 5:30 p.m.).

Fare: €2.50 reduced to €2 for under-26s, free for under-12s. Tickets can be purchased individually from the driver or in booklets of 10 at the Café de l'Aulne, 12 quai Charles de Gaulle, Châteaulin.

For the Glénan Islands, depart from :

If you are exploring the islands for a day or several days, it is not possible to transport your vehicle by boat.

Bicycles can be transported to the islands of Ouessant and Molène, depending on the ship, and must be specified when booking. The Petrel and Enez Sun 3 do not carry bicycles.

Bicycle trailers: Bicycle trailers are charged at the price of 2 standard bicycles.

It's not possible to transport your bike to Sein, as it's much more pleasant to discover the island on foot!
