Saint-Nicodème chapel

Why take advantage?

Nestling in a small valley, this chapel, protected by its wooded enclosure, faces the Bay of Douarnenez. In 1712, following a storm, it was partially rebuilt. History repeated itself in 1987. Saint Nicodemus was a Pharisee, a prominent Jewish disciple of Jesus. A protector of livestock, forgiveness is dedicated to him. The arms of the transept celebrate Saint Eloi, blacksmith, and Saint Isidore, patron saint of farmers. Cattle fairs are held here, where tails and manes are sold to Quimper brushmakers.
Roland Doré's calvary, like that of Saint Barbara, is well worth a visit. The 18th-century fountain nestles 200m along a fern-filled stream.
