From theAulne Maritime to the foothills of the Menez-HomDinéault is a real invitation to discover nature.
A commune of the Parc Naturel Régional d'Armorique, it's here, in the heart of a preserved natural environment,
that stands the unmissable "mountain" of the Finistère region, the Menez-Hom!
From the top of its 330-metre peak, a magnificent panorama unfolds.
As you follow the hiking trails, you'll be surprised by the wealth of its religious heritage...

INESCAPABLE

The summit of Menez-Hom

A breathtaking panorama

An extension of the Montagnes Noires, Menez-Hom is our "mountain"!
Yes, in Brittany, 330 metres means a lot! Once you've made the quick and easy ascent, the view is exceptional.
From the Crozon peninsula to the Monts d'Arrée, via the Brest roadstead, the Térénez bridge, the Locronan mountain and the Bay of Douarnenez, more than 50 bell towers are visible to the naked eye on a clear day.
It's also the starting point for numerous hikes, and a popular spot for model airplanes and paragliders.
In short, it's a must-see stop on your vacation, and an opportunity to take - without a doubt - one of your most beautiful vacation shots.

A king with horse ears

The most famous legend of this mountain is certainly that of King Marc'h, a king with the peculiarity of having, as his Breton name suggests... horse ears! In order to keep this terrible physical disgrace a secret, this angry, tyrannical king committed numerous exactions.
When he died, God wanted to send him to hell, but Saint Mary, of whom he was a fervent admirer, interceded on his behalf and his fate was revised. His soul was condemned to remain in his grave, until it was high enough to allow King Marc'h to see the steeple of the chapel of Sainte-Marie du Menez-Hom from its summit. God, being facetious, suggested that his tomb be located on the opposite side of the chapel!

Every summer in July and August, storytellers invite you to discover the strange legends of the mountain as the sun sets... A moment out of time!

OUT OF TIME

Picnic break at Le Passage

Softness and tranquility

Once a very busy place, thanks to the presence of a ferry linking the two banks, today it's a peaceful spot where people like to meet up and enjoy the gentle meandering of the Aulne maritime. It's also the ideal place to admire the magnificent spectacle of boats joining the canalized Aulne during nautical gatherings such as the "Route du sable" or the "Route de l'Ardoise - Hent Glaz".

A covered table and barbecue make this a very pleasant place for a picnic break with family or friends... a must-try!

COUP DE COEUR

The Rosconnec Marsh

Plunge into the heart of nature in an exceptional reservoir of biodiversity!
In this protected area, an observatory set up above the reedbed offers you the chance to contemplate birds, herons, egrets and deer. If you're lucky, you may even spot the Aquatic Warbler, a rare and protected migratory passerine that likes to hide here... Keep your eyes peeled!

Do you know the couple's tip?

It's the astonishing name given to a piece of land surrounded by water, resembling a tongue. Composed of large meadows flooded by high tide, the Pointe du Couple is located in the heart of the Rosconnec marsh, offering a magnificent view of the Aulne Maritime and its tributary the Douffine. "So romantic! "

To discover this lovely spot, take the 8.5 km Saint-Exuper / Sant-Dispar circuit!

TWO NAMES FOR AN UNEQUALLED CHAPEL

Chapelle Sant-Dispar - Saint-Exuper

Situated in the heart of the countryside, in one of the last loops of the Aulne, this charming chapel is unusual in that it has two names. One is the Breton "Sant Dispar", a play on words meaning "without equal, the best". The other, French, refers to Saint Exuper, a 5th-century bishop who protected his people from barbarian invasions.
A calvary and a nearby fountain complete this attractive ensemble.

In 1893, one of its stained glass windows was sold to finance part of its restoration. Today, this stained glass window adorns, in all its beauty, one of the windows opening onto the inner courtyard of the former bishop's palace of the Musée Départemental Breton in Quimper, its purchaser.

It's also a quiet, restful spot, inviting passing hikers to take a gentle break before heading off again towards shady valleys and wooded hillsides, or an ideal spot for a family picnic with tables and benches.
