About us

A hike with a sea view!
Saint-Nic, a coastal town in the Porzay region, marks the entrance to the Crozon peninsula. This resort hides a number of hikes that are a must! Let's focus today on the "chemin des écureuils" (squirrel trail).
Along the way, you'll have the chance to see the Bay of Douarnenez from many angles, from the town of Douarnenez to Cap de la Chèvre on the Crozon peninsula and the coastline of Cap-Sizun - you won't be disappointed!

The Menez-Hom in the spotlight:
A hike with a view of the sea, but not just that... This hike takes you to the area's must-see peak: the Menez-Hom. A 330-metre high mountain, it offers a breathtaking view of the whole of the Bay of Douarnenez, but not just that. At the summit, an exceptional panorama awaits you, including the Aulne estuary, the Rade de Brest ... You can also see 50 bell towers. Don't forget your binoculars!

Discovering the local fauna...
The hike lives up to its name... Be on the lookout for squirrels in the trees, especially at Trohom, where it's particularly quiet. Stroll along this wooded road, to the sound of trickling water...
For birdwatchers, you'll be able to observe traquet, jay and many other common birds.

The legend of the Chapelle-Neuve fountain
During your hike, take a detour to observe the Chapelle-Neuve fountain*. The chapel was destroyed in the early 19th century, but the fountain was spared. It was said that the water from the fountain helped children to walk faster. Indeed, children who were slow to walk were taken there to be soaked in the water, and then seated on a granite chair near the fountain. According to another legend, the fountain had the power of life and death...

In the vicinity

In fine weather, don't hesitate to take advantage of the large beach at Pentrez! You'll be able to enjoy a wide range of activities, including sand yachting.
After discovering the local fauna, head off to discover the gastronomy... enjoy a crêpe at the crêperie Saint-Côme, just a stone's throw from the hike, or take advantage of the fishermen's bistro at Camping Paradis Menez Bichen.
Until the end of September, you can also shop at the Saint-Nic market on Monday mornings.

*Your possible detour via Chapelle Neuve will of course mean adding distance to the initial 8 km of this circuit.

Itinerary
Step 1/7:

The start is at the entrance to the "Lotissement des Mimosas" street. This was the starting point of the former Breton railway station. On this first section, you'll follow the old railroad line.

The view of the Atlantic Ocean and Douarnenez Bay from Kerolier is breathtaking! The hamlet of Kerolier is a hydrangea paradise, displaying a wide palette of colors, from blue to fuchsia to pink, when the season is right...

Once you've reached the small heights of "Cosquer", you'll have a magnificent sea view over the Bay of Douarnenez, Cap de la Chèvre and Cap-Sizun on the west side, and a view of Menez-Hom on the east side.

At Lescorveau, before the water tower, a vast panorama opens up over virtually the entire bay of Douarnenez.

At Trohom, the sound of rushing water lulls us to sleep. In this wooded area, peace reigns... Maybe if you look up, you'll catch a glimpse of a squirrel!

Don't hesitate to take a detour to discover the chapelle Neuve fountain!

Once you've reached Kergoat Côme, turn around to enjoy a view of Menez-Hom.
